Punta Chiappa how to get there – The Complete Guide
Punta Chiappa is certainly one of the most characteristic and beautiful points of the Ligurian Riviera di Levante.
This corner of Golfo Paradiso is the destination of many tourists and bathers every summer, both for the beauty of the water and for the unique context that surrounds it, as well as for the rocky seabed.

Out of season, Punta Chiappa is an unmissable weekend stop for passionate walkers or, simply, for a short trip, perhaps bringing a packed meal with friends.
You cannot say that you have visited Golfo Paradiso without having been to Punta Chiappa at least once in life.
This very small and very ancient tongue of rock, once a fishing community in Levante di Camogli, is truly a place not to be missed!

Punta Chiappa how to get there: There are ONLY 2 WAYS!
The beauty and uniqueness of Punta Chiappa is also in the limited accessibility of the place. There are, in fact, only two ways to reach it: on FOOT or by BOAT
Don’t worry, it’s not impossible! 😉
We will tell you about both options to get to Punta Chiappa in detail: first we will explain how to get there by boat and then on foot.

One of the things we absolutely recommend – and which many people do – is to do it both ways.
For example, the outward journey (which is downhill) to Punta Chiappa on foot and the return by boat.
Obviously, if you have left your car in San Rocco di Camogli, on your way back, once disembarked from the ferry in Camogli, you will have to go back to your starting point in San Rocco.
You can do this by taking one of the buses that connect Camogli to Ruta di Camogli (line 73) or by walking (but it’s all uphill!) along the path.

USEFUL TIPS for those who want to get as close as possible by CAR (or motorbike).
👉 If you want to go to Punta Chiappa on FOOT, we suggest you to reach the locality of San Rocco di Camogli and here park your vehicle.
Scooters and motorcycles can be left in the car parks near the church, while cars must be parked before: either in the free parking lots (always check the signs, to avoid tickets) along the road, or in the large paid municipal car park (Photo 👇 below) .

If you prefer to leave Camogli on foot, you can do so by following this path (remember that it’s all uphill!) which will allow you to reach San Rocco di Camogli.
👉 If instead you want to go to Punta Chiappa by boat, you have to park the car in Camogli – which in summer is not easy at all. So, also consider parking in RECCO.
Here, you can choose to take a short walk and take the boat to Camogli, or take the boat directly in Recco. The line is the same (we’ll explain everything later)
AT THE BOTTOM OF THE READING, you will find other really valuable tips for reaching Punta Chiappa.

Punta Chiappa: how to get there on foot
To get to Punta Chiappa on foot, we recommend the path that starts from San Rocco di Camogli.
This path starts shortly after (about 100 meters) the church of San Rocco, after passing the Muagetti bar.

You will find a staircase that goes down on the right, with indications for San Nicolò/ Punta Chiappa.
The route is the one you see marked in yellow here 👇 below.

From San Rocco it takes about 30/35 minutes to reach first Porto Pidocchio and then Punta Chiappa.
The trail is very nice and opens right onto the beautiful rocky area of this stretch of coast. It’s suitable for everyone, even for children, because it doesn’t present major difficulties and there are no dangerous points: it’s all beauty!
But be careful: the main feature of this path are… the stairs! It’s almost a THOUSAND steps to go down – and above all almost a THOUSAND TO GO UP on the way back!

Take it easy, both ways, especially if you’re not exercising.
Just because of the many steps, as we said at the beginning, it might be a good idea to “go down” to Punta Chiappa on foot, and then perhaps return by boat, without climbing all the stairs back.

Other VERY useful information to reach Punta Chiappa on foot and by boat.
In San Rocco di Camogli, in addition to the bars, restaurants and bakery for refreshments, there is a fountain for drinking and filling water bottles, right behind the church (Photo 👇 below).

During the descent on foot towards Punta Chiappa, there is the possibility of taking two slightly different routes, which then rejoin at the end, just before Punta Chiappa.
One passes right by the sea (the other slightly above) and that’s the one we recommend: always follow the direction of “Porto Pidocchio”!
Just in Porto Pidocchio (Photo 👆 above), immediately after the landing and docking area of the boats, in the summer season there is also a small kiosk with seats, where you can have breakfast, lunch and an aperitif.
By boat, it is possible to reach Punta Chiappa also from Tigullio and, vice versa, it is possible to reach Tigullio from Punta Chiappa.

In fact, both boat companies arrive in San Fruttuoso di Camogli: that of Golfo Paradiso and that of Servizio Marittimo del Tigullio.
Simply disembark in San Fruttuoso from the boat of one company and board the first available boat of the other, making the ticket on site.
If you need to reach the small resort/hotel in Punta Chiappa, but also the aforementioned restaurant or kiosk, ask them for information about transport: they have their own shuttle boat, really useful and comfortable!

For completeness of information, we must tell you that Punta Chiappa can also be reached on foot from San Fruttuoso di Camogli, through the famous path Batterie/Passo del Bacio/San Fruttuoso.
Due the increasing number of rescue interventions in recent years – and, unfortunately, a recent fatal accident involving a young hiker – at the moment we prefer not to recommend it among the routes to reach Punta Chiappa and we will not go into detail on this (albeit magnificent) route.
It is, in fact, a path classified as EE, only for expert hikers only.
If you want to know more about this path, you can find all the detailed information online.
