To Camogli from Genoa by car, in the summer: DON’T do it!
Using the car is the worst possible way to get to Camogli from Genoa in the summer.
The only parking available – the Municipal Parking in Via Ferrari – fills up immediately (waiting for the new one) and to be able to park, otherwise, you have to leave your car higher up than the village, where you will find space.
Therefore, to avoid any problems, we recommend parking in Recco: don’t worry, we will explain everything further on!
In winter and out of season, on the other hand, you will definitely find a niche somewhere.

In summer, the number of rides is significantly increased, due the large influx of tourists: there is, approximately, one ride every 30 minutes.

How to get from Genoa to Camogli by Taxi
The taxi is certainly the most expensive option among those we mention, but it can prove to be an excellent lifeline.
Find the taxi areas outside the main railway stations of Genoa or you can call them on 5966 (Cooperativa radiotaxi Genova).
Ask them directly for prices (or if there is a fixed rate) and availability to reach Camogli.
Similarly, even from Camogli – the taxi base is right outside the station – you can take a taxi for the return trip, or to reach other neighboring towns.

How to get from Genoa to Camogli by car
Before illustrating how to get from Genoa to Camogli by car, we need to explain how and where you can park.
It is useless to go around it: Camogli and Portofino are the two worst places on the Riviera for parking.
As we said before, there are no major problems in winter and out of season. Find a place in the Municipal Parking in Via Ferrari, otherwise “here and there” in the neighboring streets.
Even if you park higher up than the town, don’t worry: with the ladders and creuze you can get down to the sea in just a few minutes.
In summer everything is more complicated: it is practically impossible to park. Just think that in the peak months there is almost no place for scooters!
So what to do? We suggest PARKING IN RECCO and reaching Camogli on foot (HERE you can find the COMPLETE WALK explained in detail), by bus or by boat.
Recco is a really good stopping point for the car: it is an excellent base for trips to Camogli and the surrounding areas. Remember this great advice!

Now that we have dealt with the “painful” parking issue, we will explain the ways to reach Camogli from Genoa by car.
There are 2 possibilities: take the coastal road “Aurelia” or take the motorway until the RECCO exit.
We explain the PROS and CONS of both choices. In any case, if you are on holiday and you are not in a hurry, we absolutely recommend taking the Aurelia: you will see all the towns on the Ligurian coast and you will be incredibly surprised by such beauty.
HIGHWAY
The highway is the quickest choice to get to Camogli. Leaving the ramp at the Recco tollbooth, turn right towards the sea and reach the promenade. You will find the road to Camogli near the Lungomare Bettolo roundabout.
In normal traffic conditions, it takes about 10/15 minutes from the Recco tollbooth to Camogli. The problem is in summer: during peak times and weekends it could take more than double the time due to traffic.

ROAD AURELIA
If you want to enjoy a unique experience, with breathtaking views, the Aurelia SS1 is the road for you!
It takes longer than the motorway – it takes about 35/40 minutes. The Aurelia road passes through the Recco seafront where, upon reaching the second roundabout, you will find the detour to the right for Camogli.
A few small suggestions.
Ligurian roads are narrow: stay well in your lane and watch out for regular and tourist buses.
When you are in line, leave space for the passage of the scooters which, as you will see, are numerous and will overtake you everywhere!
Respect the speed limits: you will find several speed cameras along the way.
